In general the country looks in beautiful condition. The excellent rains have made everything green and the recent spell of good weather has cleared up the lying water.

To Katanning.
Katanning heading south.
Tambellup, cross railway line, turn left at Post Office - right at main road past tennis courts. Turn right off main road, +railway, sign to Lake Toolbrunup, turn right opposite dam. Turn back, rotten granite on hill top. Back at dam - Lake Toolbrunup road, granite and schist in fields, turn right at shed.
Turn right at "Ribbleton", home of Mr Diver who took us to exposure. Back down road for .4 of mile then right through fence at top of hill - through another fence across several paddocks to creek. Silicified wood plentiful over surface of paddock on far side of creek. Impressions of matted "medles"(?) common on top of hill, large logs elsewhere or further down, little sign of promising exposures for other fossils. Diver then took us approx 3/4 mile south of this locality to exposures of "soapstone" (his name) flags, actually sandstones with gentle crossbedding and intubated mudstones. V. promising - would be worth working over.
Saw 2 baby dugites and collected a family of Sminthopsis (3 living, 1 found dead) from under a rock pile, also collected 3 scorpions.
