Activities undertaken and species observed at Cheynes Beach (03/12) include at the reef, collecting and observing the hatching of eggs of Notocypraea comptonii(?) and Notocypraea piperita(?), observed Lepsiella flindersi and Dicathais, Oscanius with eggs, one Lamellaria sp. and various nudibranches, and recapturing tagged abalone. Walking along the beach, observed washed up Janthina (2 spp) and Vetella (2 spp?) together with "great quantities" of pelagic mollusc shells. On 04/12, tagged abalone were recaptured, and new specimens tagged, two Notocypraea comptonii(?) and one immature Notocypraea piperita(?) specimens were taken, rocks were washed for Amphipod sample for Garry Barnard[?]. On 05/12 due to rough conditions at Cheynes Beach the party headed to Two Peoples Bay, specimens collected include Haliotis roei, 2 H[aliotis] laevigata, a Lyria specimen in a lagoon (specially noted as alive, and that Slack-Smith intended to bring it back home as such), an unusual washed up Cymatiid shell (hypothesised to be a deep water species), some Lepsiella vinosa(?) [Metarapha nana(?)] and [Lephaniariids?] also taken.
Cheynes Beach Expedition 12/02-14/02/1971 accompanied by G. Wilson. On 14/02 the following activities were undertaken; a sample of small abalone were taken, five Lamellaria taken and described, 5 nudibranches taken and described, 1 adult and 3 juvenile Notocypraea comptonii were also taken and described.
