FRASER'S G.M. COMPANY.
The following report, dated August 12, has been received from Mr Wm. Oats,
mining manager of the above company: —
"I have to report that during the past fortnight the work on the mine has
been prosecuted with fair success. The battery has worked eleven full
days of 24 hours, crushing 120 tons of stone, from which the return of
gold is 134 ozs., troy, (smelted), equal to 1oz. 2dwts. 8grs. per ton.
The workings at Fraser's shaft continues opening up just as usual; no
particular remark to make on it. I have been prospecting on the lode near
the South shaft and am having loaders made to develop as deep as possible
there. This work must remain in abeyance pending the arrival of the new
Tangye pump, when I will proceed with energy on this ground. I had the
boiler and engine thoroughly examined on Sunday and yesterday,
necessitating a stoppage in crushing of 24 hours; this will be considered
in the next fortnight's work. I am pleased to say that all parts of the
machinery appear in perfect condition."
