Abstract:
THE NORTH WEST GOLDFIELDS.

DISCOVERY OF A 40 OZ. NUGGET.

[BY TELEGRAPH.]

(FROM OUR CORRESPONDENT.)

ROEBOURNE, August 7.
A man named Donald McKenzie, has brought into town a nugget weighing
between 40 and 50 ounces.

The latest news from the Ashburton is, that most of the men are
prospecting the country round about.  Very few are getting good gold.  The
latest news from Nullagine is, that there are very few men there, but some
are doing well.  A good number of diggers are leaving town for Shaw Falls,
where the big nugget was found.

GOLD FROM THE NORTH WEST.

Yesterday, 1,690 ounces of gold were brought down by the S.S. Franklin,
and landed at Fremantle, 1,481 ounces being from Cossack, and 209 ounces
from Onslow.  Included in the Cossack consignment was the huge nugget from
Nullagine, as reported in our columns some days ago.
