Five men — named John Williams, John Doyle, John Pryde, Charles Capner,
and Nils Bengtson — arrived in Roebourne from Shaw Falls, Nullagine, this
morning, bringing with them 460 ounces of gold, including two big nuggets,
one weighing 333 ozs 8 dwts.  This massive nugget is very handsome.  The
men have carried on operations at Shaw Falls for three months, working out
sixteen men’s ground.  The Shaw Falls are about one mile from Coongan, and
at an estimated distance from Roebourne, of 200 miles.  The men are now
going back.  They state that there is no water at the spot where the gold
was found and they consider that it has been worked out.  Provisions also
are very scarce.

There is great excitement in Roebourne over the discovery of so large a
nugget.  A considerable number of persons visited the Union Bank to-day,
where the big nugget is exhibited.  The men do not advise anyone to go to
the scene of the find at present.

[Mr W. D. Moore also received a telegram yesterday, from the manager of
the North West Mercantile Company, Roebourne.  The telegram corroborates
the statement of our correspondent, as to the finding of the 333 oz
nugget, and refers to the great excitement caused by its arrival in
Roebourne.  Another telegram received in Perth yesterday, also reports the
arrival of the gold in Roebourne.  This telegram states that the weight of
the nugget was 333 oz avourdupois, and that it was found by two men named
Bankston and Pride, at the Coongan River, between Nullagine and the DeGrey.]

The nugget referred to above, is the largest yet found in the colony,
Sutherland's 115 oz nugget coming next.

The Troy weight of the nugget is 303 oz. 10 dwt. 7grs.
