Memo from the Superintendent, Rottnest Island to the Curator of the Museum, Perth.Response to request for natural history objects, such as wallabies, birds and snakes, and Aboriginal cultural property, including human remains.Superintendent, Rottnest
Island declines the request to provide human remains. Sees no problem in procuring wallabies.Rottnest Snipe, "properly named Banded Stilt" are migratory and specimens will not be available till summer.Few other birds - Ravens, hawks and "Greenies" or Silver Eyes.Snakes valued in diet of Australian Aboriginal people and so not numerous.Australian Aboriginal people rewarded by a stick of tobacco for every snake they kill. Angelo will "bottle the next".
