Abstract:
THE SOUTHERN TIN FIELDS.

During the last fifteen months, the time when the tin mines at Greenbushes
have been working, the produce has been greater than might have been
supposed.  Altogether it has been estimated that not less than ninety-two

tons of tin ore have been raised during that period, while there are
seventeen tons lying ready for shipment at the present moment.  It has
also been estimated that some six thousand pounds have been expended in
bringing about this result.  As nearly as possible the same amount of
money has been obtained by the sale of the ore, so that taking into
account all the dead work which has been done, and the large quantity of
prospecting which is being carried on, the field has practically more than
paid its way.  This is an excellent result, and gives the best promise of
its proving highly payable in the future.
