Abstract:

THE VALUE OF WOLFRAM

SIR, - In your issue of yesterday I see a paragraph stating that a
correspondent, writing under the nom-de-plume of "Care," advises the tin
workers to take care of the wolfram (tungstate of iron) that they find,

and asserting that it is worth more than tin.  I think it would be well to
ask him to give some authority for such a statement, naming the uses to
which it can be put, or at any rate where a market is to be found, as
otherwise his letter may lead to great disappointment, for not many months
ago I saw hundreds of tons lying by the tin mines in Cornwall that can be
had for the asking, and in all probability with a bonus for clearing the
ground. - Yours, etc.,
BERNARD H. WOODWARD.
