Letter to A.G. Weller, Collie.The specimen you sent was the Wide mouthed Lamprey (Geotria australis).I was interested to hear of the use it makes of the curious bag on the throat as I have never seen one alive.If able, send specimens of the smaller ones
you noticed as I would like them for our collection. Young lampreys often differ very much from the adult form.
