male Sperm 44' 1433 - off[?] on left side ventral and dorsal cuts, from opp. eye (?) backwards, with [drawn diagram] kink[?] to tube[?]
[?] chain in dorsal cut similar[?] in vertical also cut along right flank. from tail [?] to eye.

- whale at rest[?] -above cuts made
1440 - flensing of back (& port[?] part[?] of head 2/3s) begins
1441 - [?] ventral surface - portion[?] excludes l. ventrolateral bit with 'kink'.
1442 - [?] right dorsal flank - from [?] backwards - (from back of head towards tail). Simultaneous cutting of head blubber prep. to flensing head. (Medial Lateral hole [?] of head, chain hazard[?] this + taken up, ventrolateral 1/2 then flensed back to flipper, off by 1544 straight. All blubber + dorsolat fillet to back of plan
1446 - whale turned over - one [?] to toggle in "kink" on left ventral flank over body. [?] to lower jaw over head using short chain to [?] chain a plan for dorsal "kink".
1447 Cuts in left flank of head. [?] behind tip - back towards eye [crossed out text]. Simultaneous cuts round left shoulder from ventrals to allow whole of left side to be flensed complete - Done by 1550.
1450 Lemming of left dorsolateral flank. fin behind flank - lateral cut along T.S. processes. Also cut across in front of shoulder ([?])
1451 1/2 left d-l flanked lemmed & left ventro.lat began Lemming left ventro lateral flank [?] Whole of left rib case. When half Complete (ie heart and lungs exposed) part[?] 2/3rds of head blubber start coming off parallel with it!
[text crossed out] Genitals go with [?] part of ventrolateral fillet. Liver now removed from[?] heart/lung/diaphragm complex left behind.
1455 lemming complete. Last head blubber off.
Carcass is now head + backbone + heart/lung guts complex + portion of right rib case.
1455 1/2 - left flank (ribs + genitals) across to top left of plan[?] by[?] gut[?] pots[?]. Ribs separates from belly[?] fillet.
1456. Removal of lower jaw. [crossed out text], guts + lungs + heart trail out behind
1458 - Right shoulder + flipper + right ribcage removed
1458 1/2 - guts sepd. from lower jaw. Guts to gut [?] at left top of plan. lower jaw to back central with blubber
1459. Head removed / backbone pulled from front backward taken to open plan (upper right) Backbone to bone loft direct gut left by L[?] some [?] (as [?] [?] pot[?]!) Head to sperm plan. Blubber from back central to blubber loft (right) Meat + ribs to meat plan ([?] guts pots[?] upper left) Flensing area clear completely by 1502. Lower jaw + some [?](!) + ribs to bone plan.
1507 arrival[?] [?] male by [?]. Genitals + tail fillet specially removed from meat!! [?] into guts pot (?) belly fillet left complete.

Similar procedure but flanks etc reversed (ie left = right etc)

Skeleton of "mackerel shark" (8'-") in gut of 50' male sperm - (caught 19/8/58 0930) (40m segs[?]) found plan forward Inspector [Beauish]
Identified as a Elasmobranch by Mr Pople of the Uni of Natal. Dept. of Zool.
2' of vertebral column attached to neurocranium, no visceral arches or jaws. No skin[?] or teeth available for fuller classification.
About 2' all bits[?] of vertebral column [?] - ref[?] photo'd (B has a copy) - total 8' 2" long.

Meat c. 2' cubes into hogger, (crusher) then minced then 80 degrees C to loaf [?] material (few minutes) - eventually[?] from 3% solution to 15% by evap.
[Antibiotics] - [?] no good!
[?] Sperm c 8%
Baleen c 4%
Blue higher then Fin Sei lower. (Sei 3.8 F 4.2 Blue 4.5)
ct[?] low[?] extract for 1 F(medium)
- - 6 Sp (medium)
(3 Sei & 1 Fin)
Liver - Caustic soda hydrolysis then [pickup] with peanut oil. Separate off oily water + throw away rest. (Old liver OK [?] [?] vitamins)
Blubber - heated after [mincing] to c 70 degrees C.
Wintering - down to 5 degrees C to remove beam[?] [?] "frozen" a "physical separation"
Extract European markets for soups etc.
Meat Meal Cattle feed approximately 70% protein content (highest protein in blubber fibre! c90% then Lean meat c70% Bone - c50%)
Solubles [?] dried and was [?] used in cattle feed, about same proteins as whale meal.
Oil Margarine + Soap (baleen)([?])
Sperm - pharmaceutical compound
fatty based women's cosmetics
high altitude lubricants
Sulphured High pressure lubricants (secret!)
Gelatine from bones + blubber can be got - but [?] get [?] to make it can do when required.
Bacteriological side-
from human point of view - screen for pathogenic organisms + screen the logs.
