This colourful art series began with large-scale paintings rendering ocean giants at life-size, cropped as if to offer fleeting glimpses akin to encounters in the wild. Smaller subjects followed featuring marine species centred and pendant-like.

Ian combines his focus on scale, form and layout with a mode of presentation that is distilled and symbolic. His paint palette is playful, fun and shiny. Bright colour combinations appear almost candy-like as each painting is finished with a super-high-gloss lustre similar to water itself.
