Letter from Prof R.A. Stirton, University of California to Ludwig Glauert.Acknowledges the receipt of 6 pieces of maxillaries and mandibles of Sthenurus occidentalis for comparison with fossil materials collected in South Australia.Is
sending cranium and mandible of the sabre tooth cat Smilodon californicus Bovard.If this is considered to be a suitable exchange I shall keep the Sthenurus specimens.In any event you may keep the Smilodon skulls on permanent loan from the Museum of Paleontology, University of California in thanks for the kindness of Mr A.M. Douglas for permitting me to study the specimens.
