Sending his specimen of A. gigantura and another No. 5421.  The specimens had been exhibited at the Natural History Society where it was agreed that the differences in the chestnut colouring on the ventral surface was a local variation and not a new species. Regrets that he did not have a specimen of A. macrura.

Acknowledged Carter would like Amytis varia to figure in the "Ibis" but reported that the only skin ever received had been returned. Offered to lend a pair of Amytornis gigantura but regrets not having spare Ptilotis carteri or leilavalensis.  Accepted the offer of clutches of common bird eggs.

P. 361 letter from Woodward to Carter at Broome Hill re: Acknowledging the receipt of a box of eggs.  Reported that Mr Conigrave has not shot a Pardalotus punctatus but will if Mr Milligan has done so.  Posting a pair of Amytornis gigantura (Nos. 9236 5421).

 promised collection of shells.

Acknowledge letter of 21.12.99. Glad to receive specimen of Glareola orienetalis [?] Asking if Carter knows anything about Barrow Island as collecter W.J.S. Penney will be going there in August (1900).

The year book is as a complete a list Woodward has been able to compile.  
Will be glad to receive the skins of the [?] and [?] mentioned.
Glad to hear the emus are coming down with [?] for the [?] collection of state birds next month. Is anxious to get a clutch of NW Emu eggs.  If the eggs you name are that of the Wedge Tail Eagle would be pleased to receive those.  
Thanks for ongoing contribution to the Museum and the indebtedness of the Committee.

P. 230 From  Woodward to Carter at Point Cloates, re: Sending by mail eggs of Nycticorex caledonicus from a rocky islet off Cape Peron 20 mile south of Fremantle where a large colony of these birds breed while Eurdyptula minor occupy the remainder of the rock.
Added hand written note thanks for the letter.  
I shall be glad to pay for some good skins of a pair of adults or two or three stages of growth.

P. 444 From Woodward to Carter at Point Cloates,  re: Regrets that the Ringed dotterel said to be from the Abrolhos was one of the early specimens and cannot vouch for the correctness of the locality and have masked it out.

re: the lump of iron pyrites (more or less decomposed) must have been swallowed by the sheep, it could not have formed inside it for the life of a sheep is far too short for such a slow forming mineral. Shall be glad to recive the Emu skins.  Note the occurence of the quail [?] and [?] skins. Also noted about other Whistling Eagles.  

re letter to Mr Milligan regrets that can only enclose one Aerocephalus longirostris which was taken from the Reserve Collection but indicated he will get more. No need to return it. Has no speciments of Megalurus gramineus [?]  in the Museum.  

Would consider it a great favour if he would not send birds that Mr Milligan is keen to describe, to the Eastern States.

P. 429 From Woodward to Carter at Point Cloates. re:  Nos 3468/3496a  Aknowledgement of Pallid cuckoo (Cacomantis pallidus), Dampier cockatoo (Licinatis [Cacatua] pastinator), Teal (Nettion castaneura [?]), Freckled duck (Stictonetta naevosa), Harrier (Circus assimilis), Carter's desert bird (Eremiornis carteri), a collection of 24 eggs.
