Mermaid Sound; Station DA/99/01 2.5 N. miles N of King Bay (& WSW of Withnell Bay). Coarse sand (grab.). red algae (corallines soft) & Halophylla. little material. sponge - glass sponge; corals - fungoids D; "false teeth" D. Molluscs D&L: P. tuberculataPeronella lesueuri; echinoderms - 3 spp flat urchins; Prioriocidaris bispinosa 1 sp. reg. urchin (prickly); A. granulatus, A. zebra? Astropecten (? 2 spp.); Heart urchin- Breynia; Rhynobrissus sp - 2 spp smaller; Acaudina leucoprocta Holothurians - black/purple smooth; Cercodemas anceps yellow & pink. Tunicates: long[?] sand dwelling, solitary; sand covered oval. Crustaceans: Calappa sp.; portunid Charybdis sp.; leucosids D (large) ?2spp.; portunid small; parthenopid; majid - long legs; prawn - red; isopod Sphaeromitid. Polychaete -  tube.

Station #2 DA2/99/02; forked dredge; v little; grab - grey muddy sand. Hydroids: stem long thin, branched, delicate, polyps on 1 side of branches. Sponge: long thin branched grey; "rotting" sponge pieces. Tunicate: long - as in #01. Crustaceans: barnacles(?) on scallop(D); shrimp as in #01; crab - portunid ?as in #01. Soft coral: cream branched leathery, tubercular polyps on smaller branches. ?mud pellets? [sketch] - Worm. Echinoderms: biscuit urchins - large D.; Peronella orbiculatis - small round D; Breynia D. pieces; regular ecginoid - piece; Heart urchin - small fragile; D. peak D.. Worms: long, thin annular D.
Station #2A DA2/99/02A (same locality); shovel dredge; vv little; grey muddy sands. sponge pieces "rotting" as in #02. Crustaceans: portunids as in #02; Charybdis sp. black tips to swimmerets. Worm mud pellets as in #02. Worm: tube - Chaetopterid (sand grains, leathery tube). ?Breynia - D. piece. Sponge - grey long (piece only) ? as in #02.

2 N miles NW of Cohen I. (outside Hammersley Shoals).
Halophilla - coralline red; sandy mud. Crustacea: shrimp (as before); Calappa crab - many -small; Pilumnid - 2 spp. - large white claws -smooth, v. long legs - rectangular carapace c felt on edges; Thalassiniid; Portunid c black tipped swimmerets; Charybdis sp. - not as before mottled brown all over no long spine; Leucosid - carapace D. Sponge: pale fawn c pipe. Tunicate: long -as before. Worms: -?Chaetopterid c shell & sand on tube - many; muddy tube. Neunerita[?] proboscis piece. Echinoderms: A. zebra?Astrapecten with small orange D tubercles; -echinoid spines; Primocidaris bispinosa - branched; P. baculosa -smooth oval in cross section - rough but with flat lip - piece of tect. Corals: "false teeth".

Cnidarians: solitary corals - attached L - false teeth L orange; gorgonians - branched whips, red rough; soft coral - as before; branched 2 dimensional red; branched 3 dimensional - mauve. Worms: "glass" tubes - v many; Astropecten zebra; soft sea mouse; A. velivaris; ?Linkia red-pink. Echinoderms: starfish - Astropecten - purple authine[?]; Astropecten as before; purple beneath L & Small; Stellaster princeps; brittle stars - many & diverse on rocks & gorgonians; Regular urchins spines only "branched"; Biscuit urchins - large L; oval -> rectangle green edges; large oval D; medium thick edge D.; Heart urchins; ?small Breynia; & small red & black; Cercodemas anceps; Holothurians red & pink; Loisettea amphictena "branched" orange pink c red D tubercles, small cream.; Comatula purpurea; Holothurian - small brown mottled cf; Feather stars- brown c yellow lips; eel - mauve tail & head yellow-green body; flathead - mauve body (mottled) yellowish pectoral & pelvic fins; flatfish; ?sea pionid?. muddy sand; 3.5 miles NE of Cape Legendre. SpongesSp11 2D fan, solid fibrous, rough striations, dark brown; Sp12 free living deep saucer fringed edge (1 very large for species). EchinodermsCrinoids: -large-sponges-purple claspers, cream-yellow-mauve-purple. AsteroidsSp. 1 pink c red/rust centre D.; Goniodiscaster australiae - maroon tips to arms cream V (photo); Pentaceraster gracilis - Sp.2 -pink mottled c maroon (Photo) tubercles, white C, red feet - small red & pink banded see "Linkia", -small cream fawn brown as before; Biscuit urchins: large dark rounded petals L.; small round thick rim D. Reg. urchin: branched spines D; smooth inflated spine. Holothurians: green fawn c fawn-brown Sp. 1 (Photo) tubercles (R?); "sticky" purple. ?Holothuria (Theelothuria) spiniferaSoft coral - pale orange & white. Worms - shelley tubes. Fish: long flatfish - 1 fine mottled brown c small pale spots; - coarse mottled cocoa-brown darker spots on body & fins; Leatherjacket - 3(4) [?] longit. shaped stripes of mottled brown on cream. 
Tunicate: - long brown c sand on lat. processes; stalked blue compound. Corals: -solitary stalked. "Gorgonians": -long v slender - brown; Branched orange; Branched (sparsely) white. Sponges -all photographed: Sp 13 - flat fan, thin, yellowish, irregular, fine; Sp 14 - tan, tough, sharp tubercles, irregular growth. Crustacea: Portunid - no dark spots; Barnacles - Austromegabalanus nigresceus; Porcellanid - hairy; Upogepid - sponge; Alphaeid: cream/pink; pink/red; banded; Xanthiid.

2.7 miles ESE of Cape Legendre.
Crinoids: as at #05 - fawn -mauve, 6 spp collected; - v large (& v abundant) white black; yellow & purple; c associated ophuiroids; (longit stripes)x2; large - purple c white tips on some many arms - orange/tan stripe below.
