The chronology of this correspondence, by this stage, is uncertain. It is a continuation of correspondence that began when Hamlyn-Harris originally wrote to Glauert on 6 March 1916 requesting any information he might have on message sticks (A13-73-1-66).
Hamlyn-Harris makes reference to Glauert's '... letter of the 31st ultimo ...', which would indicate December 1916, but the only existing correspondence for that month is for 21 December 1916 (A13-73-1-98).
It is possible, therefore, that Hamlyn-Harris has confused the dates.
Hamlyn-Harris tells Glauert that he will hold off publication of his paper on message sticks until he receives the information promised by Glauert.
