The Museum possesses a natural history collection consisting of over 500,000 objects of various kinds and types (paleontology, malacology, entomology, ornithology, mineralogy, geology) which thus places it among the largest natural history museums in
Italy. The ethno-anthropological collection includes carts, model boats and other objects of peasant material culture. A small archaeological section includes marine and terrestrial finds found during the excavation campaigns in the area. It is a museum divided into three technical sections: Naturalistic, Ethno-anthropological and Archaeological.
