Held at Muse´e oce´anographique de Monaco 2016. Living Waters, initiated by the Sordello Missana Collection, Antibes, is part of a larger Indigenous Australian art exhibition, Taba Naba, at the Oceanographic Museum Monaco for the summer of 2016. Living Waters has arisen from a collaborative partnership between the Sordello Missana Collection and various institutions and private and public collections including Buku-Larrnggay Mulka Centre, Yirrkala, AAMU: Museum of Contemporary Aboriginal art (Utrecht), the Australian National Maritime Museum (ANMM), Sydney, and the Kerry Stokes Collection, Perth. Living Waters has two themes that showcase Indigenous knowledge systems concerning the ecological and cosmological continuums of fresh and salt water as essential to life and the ocean as a vehicle of scientific inquiry and colonization. The exhibition comprises over 100 works by nearly 60 artists in many different media, including paintings on canvas and bark, photography, video, prints, shellwork and site-specific installations.
