THE CITY MUSEUMS.
The announcement in yesterday’s “Herald” that there was some likelihood of
the four museums existing in this city being united in one large building
was received with pleasure by a large body of our readers. Further
inquiries, however, have elicited the fact that it is not at present in
contemplation by the committee of the West Australian Museum and Art
Gallery to attempt the amalgamation of the museums belonging to the
Agricultural and Lands Departments, with the principal museum and the
geological museum, as many of the exhibits are of no general public
interest. Such agricultural, horticultural, viticultural, entomological,
and forestry specimens as are suitable for exhibition in a public gallery
are being gathered together, and, with those already in cases and
otherwise available, a comprehensive collection will be found in the new
galleries very soon after their opening.
