Abstract:
“The Light of the World.”—Up to last night about 30,000 persons had
visited the Museum to inspect Holman Hunt’s masterpiece, “The Light of the
World,” close on 11,000 having passed through the turnstiles yesterday. It

has been arranged, in the interests of those who may be unable to see the
picture at any other time, that it shall be on view, not only throughout
Saturday and on Sunday afternoon, but on Sunday evening from 7 to 10
o’clock as well. The picture may also be inspected on Monday, but it has
to be packed for transportation to Brisbane on Tuesday. The lighting of
the work of art, which is by means of electric light, both day and night,
is as nearly perfect as it can be made.
