The Museum and Art Gallery.—The mineral gallery at the Museum and Art
Gallery will be open to-day, the collections of the Government Geologist
having been arranged with those of his predecessors, instead of being
housed in a detached building, as has previously been the case. The
Director of the Museum has removed the old typical collection of minerals
into the former Art Gallery, and the Western Australian fossils down to
the mineral gallery. All the Australian collections have been re-arranged
by the staff of the Geological Department, as already announced. The
Tennant collection of typical fossils, chiefly British, remains in the
Bird Gallery as arranged by the Director, in [case]s parallel to those
containing the recent mollusca.
