Abstract:
WE have been requested by Baron von Mueller, the Government Botanist in Melbourne to make known to West Australian residents that he is anxious to obtain botanical specimens, etc., as mentioned below :—

(1.) Seeds of eucalpytus [sic] (all sorts), acacia, salt bush and everlastings.

(2.) Pressed and dried specimens of all plants from the far interior. These are required for the purpose of tracing the geographical distribution of species. The localities from which the plants are procured must be given.
(3.) Crispy dried seaweeds, stating locality procured.

In exchange for these the Baron will be pleased to send botanical books, seeds of rare garden flowers and new vegetables, or seeds of trees for ornament or useful purposes. He also points out that business might be done with other countries in collecting seeds of the various eucalypti. He himself would be glad to get some Tuart seed. This is work that should be especially interesting to young people, and would while away many a tedious hour for those resident in the country in collecting in the first instance and afterwards in rearing the seeds sent in return for their work.
