THE ALLEGED SILVER MINE
TO THE EDITOR.
SIR,—I see by the reports in your issue of this morning, that the prisoner
asserted that “he had had the specimens shown witness tested by the
Government Analyst, and the yield was 75 per cent. of silver”—a statement
absolutely untrue. As this is not a solitary instance of my name being
used in this way by “experts,” I should be glad of the opportunity of
making it publicly known that I always give written reports of analyses
and assays, and that those who are offered similar advantages should ask
to see the reports instead of accepting verbal statements.
I am, &c.,
BERNARD WOODWARD,
Government Assayer.
May 21.
