Abstract:
MINING NEWS.

THE RECENT GOLD DISCOVERY IN THE MURCHISON DISTRICT.

The nugget of gold which we reported in our issue of the 9th inst, to have
been found on the Murchison, was, we are formed, unearth a two prospectors
who have been sent out by Messrs. Dalgety & Co.  The nugget weighed about

1 1/2 oz., and was found on a range of hills, the quartz running from
there into a salt lake, which it nearly crosses.  The name of the place,
as near as we can gather, is known as Nyanyeen, and is nine miles east of
Messrs. A. & T. Cruickshank’s Aneen Station, and 260 miles from Geraldton.
Our informant also states that there is a good supply of water and horse
feed on the road, all the year round, and rations can always be obtained
at Aneen station, at moderate charges.  Previous prospectors have found
plenty of "colours" and antimony in this vicinity.
