Abstract:
Little known squadron, 85 (Boomerang) Squadron, based in WA from 1943-1945 at Guildford. Half of squadron went to Exmouth Gulf taking over from the 76 Squadron. The squadron flew Brewster Buffalos, then the Australian made Boomerangs and later Spitfires.
The author was a RAAF ground engineer, inventor and later a pilot who built his own plane and flew it across Australia many times.
