The 'Cushie Doo' was owned by William Henry Seville Osmand who was a part owner of Ord River Station in Western Australia. Osmand was the first person to take a steamer up Cambridge Gulf and to take soundings. He was born in 1824 and died at his home in Stawell, Victoria, in 1901. Joseph Panton was also on the voyage. A former Victorian police magistrate, Panton was Osmand's partner in Ord River Station.

The complete diary describes a voyage around the Western Australian coast to Darwin, and then on to England. In the section we hold the Aboriginal people at Lagrange Bay are described, in the entries for July 1884 on pages 22-27.Ada Booty stayed in Darwin
from 1 August 1884 to 3 January 1885 while the 'Cushie Doo' went on to the Cambridge Gulf. The yacht then proceeded on her journey via Sourabaya, Singapore, Galle and Aden. Ada Booty visited Jerusalem and some Spanish towns.The complete volume includes two photographs of Ada Booty, a photograph of the captain of the 'Cushie Doo' and two photographs of a boy, one labelled 'David, April 1883'.
