The Welcome Walls first stage was launched in May 2004 in Fremantle with 8000 names. Stage 2 added a further 8794 names and with the third and final stage, more than 21000 will be registered on the walls in front of the WA Museum - Maritime. In 2006,
the State Government was also committed to building a migrant tribute in Albany. The Welcome Walls at the WA Museum - Albany, represents migrants who entered Australia through the Albany Port between 1830 and 1975 and includes 487 names.
