[Letter from J. S. Battye, Principal Librarian and Secretary, to the Secretary, Department of Commerce, Canberra, responding to his request for a replacement dried Emu skin for the Commercial and Industrial Museum, Montreal, Canada]
Battye replies to James Francis Murphy, Secretary, Department of Commerce, Canberra, concerning his request for a replacement dried Emu skin for the Commercial and Industrial Museum, Montreal, Canada.
Battye notes that in certain parts of Western Australia Emus have been declared vermin and that those parts are a long way from Perth and it is therefore difficult to transport complete specimens to Perth.
Battye adds that it will take some time to secure the specimen but that it will initially be sent to Murphy free of charge, apart from transport costs, for his forwarding to Montreal.
